Glossary of Mobile Advertising Terms
ASO (App Store Optimization) is the process of improving the visibility and ranking of mobile apps in various app stores (Play Store, iTunes, etc.). It’s basically an SEO (search engine optimization which is used for websites to improve their ranking during search results) version for mobiles and because of that it’s also sometimes called Mobile App SEO.
The main goal of ASO is the drive traffic to the app page so more users can download the app. ASO’s goals can also include things like positive app reviews and rating or increased brand exposure. To make ASO effective, you’ll need to understand your target customer base. This would include keywords that your targeted audience is using to find similar apps to yours.
In today’s world where pretty much everyone has a phone (and some more than one), ASO is a pretty important tactic for mobile advertisers. A huge number of apps are discovered via app store searches so ASO basically becomes a must if you want your app to have as many downloads as possible. Some of the basic steps for proper ASO usage would be to pay special attention to is the title keyword and the already mentioned keywords that your target audience is using.
